When I first walked into Mr. Brodski's studio, I knew almost nothing about the trumpet, but I was stunned by the beautiful music when Mr. Brodski played trumpet. He was such a brilliant musician! Furthermore, he is a wonderful teacher. Under his patient instruction and potent support, I made great progress and obtained my ARSM diploma with distinction in just four years. Mr. Brodski always encourages me when I try to play difficult pieces and also patiently corrects me again and again if I didnít play a piece sufficiently well. With Mr. Brodskiís help, I won the first place prize in the American protege competition and was invited to perform at prestigious music halls. I feel I am very lucky to have Mr. Brodski as my trumpet teacher!
My son started private trumpet lessons with Mr. Brodski 4 years ago when he was in 4th grade. Mr. Brodski is an inspiring and passionate musician. Besides weekly lessons, he also arranged well organized recitals. He is experienced and knows the “little tricks and tips” with exams and competitions. My son is now working on the grade 5 ABRSM exam. All his previous exams he passed with Distinction or Merit. I would highly recommend Mr. Brodski to anyone who wants to learn and excel in trumpet regardless of skill level and age!

My son has been with Mr. Jacob Brodski for Piano and Trumpet for more than 10 years. With Mr. Brodski’s mentoring and arranging, my son has passed the ABRSM test up to piano grade 8, some trumpet grades, and piano US Open competition. For instruments, Mr. Brodski has helped my son foster very flexible fingering, articulations, accurate intonation sensitivity, strong musicality, and continuous interest by choosing the variety of exercises and pieces from his teach career. Mr. Brodski is professional and comprehensive with teaching music foundation such as music theory, reading, and appreciation with inspiration. My son is in grade 11 and he has the habit of enjoying music under the pressure of class work; he even tries to compare some pieces of Ryuichi Sakamoto with Classical pieces.

I’ve had Jacob Brodski as a teacher for probably around 10+ years now, as both as a piano and trumpet teacher. He is not only a teacher, but an accomplished performer in both instruments, a music collector, an instrument collector, conductor and composer, with connections to the music community that span the globe. Music is clearly his life and passion and that comes through as a teacher with his extensive knowledge of repertoire, technique and musicality. With such a long history of teaching, he also knows how to communicate clearly and effectively based on the student and is able to accommodate the goals of the student, whether that be exams, music theory, competitions or just playing for fun.
